September 06, 2003 : kim, justine and a new matress

Ok, so that's not the best entry title, but it's fitting for the day. Today Eva and I went to Ikea "just for fun" and spent a lot of cash. (which we don't have, but we deserve our purchases...)

We woke to tanks. This time last year we were eating breakfast and shocked senseless when tank rolled down our street. This year, just the same as last year, it was a whole procession coming down our street to mark the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Antwerp. I must admit that one can't help but somehow hear the walls chat amongst themselves in relation to history on days such as today...and the tanks and assorted US/English WWII vehicles helped them out a bit.

Now on to IKEA...

We've remarked about our lumpy (very) matress at least once a day for the past year and a half (it was "ok" the first six months and "sleepable" for a bit longer) and today we found the top-of-the-line on sale for the same price as the newer version of our cheap hand me down.

Thank god we arrived in the Opel...as we loaded up that larger than life good deal and now we can hardly wait to sleep! No more lumps! And as if it's not already hard enough to get out of bed (because we're tired) now it'll be twice as difficult.

We also bought a new shelving unit (Ikea's widely known jewel) to put in our entryway (at the landing of our treehouse...thanks to Jennifer and Nichole for that nickname). The landing was previously a disastor area, but thankfully only a disaster we saw upon arriving and leaving our blessed sweet haven-home. Now it says goodbye and greets us with storage efficiency.

Now on to the rest of the night, where Kim Cleisters and Justine Henin-something are dueling it out for the finals of the US Open. Well of course we're going to stay up until 2 for that! We even turned it up to hear the national anthem, only to hear God Bless America instead. Strange.

So off our lumpy couches and our black and white tv.

Go Kim Go!

By the way...I hope to start writing more...now that I'm going to have a regular ol' schedule...seeing as how I have a regular ol' job now. Too bad the new agency is still nameless...I'll keep you posted.
