September 16, 2003 : stupid stupid stupid

well with every sunshine one has to have a bit of clouds! Today I went to Gent out of goodwill to help out the musician for whom I'm implementing her cd design. This whole trip was a great little break for Eva and I. I sped home as fast as I could go and then off we were on the E17.

We fixed up her minor changes and then headed into Gent to have dinner. As Gent is a college town, we figured we'd have no problem finding cheap eats...but we didn't even have a chance to look or to eat for that matter. We pulled into a parking spot and as soon as I grabbed my jacket out of the back seat, I realized...(drumroll) my wallet was missing.

Well seeing as how the very speedy return trip to the gas station still had our total on the pump, what I must have done was leave the wallet on top of my car and drove away.

That's right, you read it correctly, I left it on the roof of the car! (of all places) So some passerby made 5 Euro and is now the proud owner of my driving license, one now-defunct credit card, and two defunct bank-cards...oh, and my Stad Antwerpen library card. (eva and I just reminded each other that we should tell the library as well...it would completely suck to have someone check out a half-dozen books or dvds in my name and then walk away) One would think this couldn't happen...but it does!

It was completely disgusting to realize what I had done. We went back and traced the route twice. Nothing. One would have thought we stood a chance, but it could have been anywhere in anyone's pocket in the 20 minute time-span.

We went to the police, cancelled the cards...and for the 4th time in one week, I had a road-side pre-packaged sandwhich for dinner.

Goodnews is, however, Violet seems overly healthy and wakes us up in the middle of the night for us to let her down from the loft so she can pee. Like I said before...what more can a person want in a kitten?

IN THE NEWS:
The Canadian Parliament lent lukewarm support to the government's plans to legalize gay marriage on Tuesday by narrowly defeating a nonbinding motion reaffirming the heterosexual-only definition of marriage.
