Concept:
This series is autobiographical, it is my own story as well as my mother’s breast-cancer experience in my own words. This narrative began as a passage from a story, made its way into a painting in 1998 and it was only after the response to that work that I realised that this could live on its own as text. In this manner the work crosses many boundaries and touches on a wide variety of issues from fear to the exploration of loss.
This series has been exhibited in both English and Dutch in a variety of locations in both a printed and projected form.
As perhaps my first true type-centric piece, this project pulled together my interests in content and design and is perhaps the forbearer of many other poster and text-based projects.
